We have been fostering a kitten, Hannah, for the last 6 months, and unfortunately we have not found her a permanent home in that time. We had to hand her over to her new foster mum as we cannot look after her while we are on our travels... Due to the pouring rain, we decided to leave the kids at home (with Ayi) and trek over to Jing'An to drop her off alone.

With the kids at home, we thought we should make the most of it and enjoy a day out... but again thanks to the rain, it wasn't a great day for wandering... so we jumped in a taxi and went to "Lost Heaven" for lunch. This restaurant specialises in Yunnan Folk cuisine, and although I sincerely doubt we will have anything quite as exquisite on our trip, we thought it was good preparation!

After lunch we thought a stroll along the Bund was in order. With the rain, I was quite surprised at how many others thought it was a good idea too.

We don't get away from the kids that often, and you might think we're not overly adventurous when we do... it was the weather. Really.

Today is the day after the last day of school for the year... we are having a week at home to wind down and relax before embarking on the biggest adventure of our life as a family, thus far...

We have lived as expats in Shanghai, China for two years, while my husband is a teacher at an international school. I have enjoyed life as a stay at home Mum since we moved, and while here we have doubled the number of children we have!

Jie jie, is a 3 year old girl with an active imagination, and who really wants to have, or be, a puppy.
Didi, is an 18 month old boy, who is in the shadow of his sister at the moment, but is gaining on her rapidly in size, strength and speed.

The pseudonyms for my kids are the Chinese words for Big Sister and Little Brother respectively.

So, stretching ahead of us is 7 weeks of holiday... we leave on 6th July for Kunming... we are mapping out our journey now!
